BOISE, Idaho -- Boise State and new head football coach Bryan Harsin have agreed to the terms of a five-year contract worth $6.5 million. University officials released the term sheet signed by Harsin Wednesday, the day the former Broncos walk-on player and Boise native was named the successor to Chris Petersen, who left for Washington last week. Petersen spent eight seasons leading the Broncos and was expected to make $2.3 million in salary next year. Harsin will be paid $1 million each of the first two years, with subsequent raises of $1.3 million, $1.55 million and $1.65 million in the final year. A formal contract with bonuses and incentives will be hammered out in coming weeks, athletic department officials said. The deal also provides Harsin with $1.75 million to satisfy the buyout clause in his contract with Arkansas State, where Harsin got his first year of head coaching experience. Harsin will also have $2.2 million to spend on his new staff and the buyout with Boise State in the first year is $2 million, according to the term sheet. Harsin is the Broncos former offensive co-ordinator, but he left Boise in 2010 and spent two years running the offence at Texas.
